Orange is the New Black Season 7 Release Date, Cast, News, and More

Orange is the New Black Season 7 has been confirmed. In fact Netflix confirmed it awhile ago when it confirmed Orange is the New Black Season 6 at the same time. 

Here’s a new bit of information though….Season 7 will also be the show’s last. This is bittersweet news because while it’s always fun catching up with the ladies of Litchfield, it’s also clear that the show couldn’t go on forever. At times it seemed as though Netflix and OITNB creator Jenji Kohan had every intention of making this thing last forever. Kohan’s first major TV project, Weeds, notably lasted for eight seasons on Showtime.

It’s also notable that there was nothing about Season 6 that suggested it would be the penultimate of the series. This is a show that really loves cliffhangers. Though Season 6 conlcuded with some uncommon finality.

Orange is the New Black Season 6 was a return to form for the show after a lackluster fifth season. The ladies of Litchfield ended up in maximum security after their season 5 riot. If that weren’t bad enough, Piper, Alex, Daya, Gloria, and others ended up in a generations old conflict. Blocks C and D led by Barbara and Carol Denning were at a war that not even kickball could fix. Then there’s also the matter of the guards playing “fantasy prisoner” and Taystee enduring an unjust trial for her role in the riot. 

What does Orange is the New Black Season 7 hold in store for our favorite prisoners? Guess we’ll see soon.

Orange Is the New Black Season 7 Release Date

We don’t know a release date yet, but every season so far has premiered in June or July, so we figure we’ll see you in June or July of 2019 for the Orange is the New Black Season 7 premiere on Netflix!
