Drone Video Collections Tour “Game of Thrones” Filming Locations
For fans of the hit television series “Game of Thrones” who can’t wait for the final season to begin, allow drone videos to whet your appetite for the show.
The smash hit HBO show, which has been called “the best show in the last 20 years” and has dominated the past several television awards seasons, has served to highlight the beauty of the locations in Europe and North Africa where most of the show has been filmed. While the location names used in the show are fictional, they are highly recognizable “real-life” places and in effect have become co-stars of the show, tracked by ardent fans as closely as the show’s cast. Such has been the level of “Game of Thrones” popularity that many of these locations have seen huge influxes of tourists seeking to visit the prominent settings like King’s Landing (the fictional capital of the land of Westeros, which is actually Dubrovnik, Croatia) and the land “beyond the wall” (a borderland territory which is actually one of the great glaciers of Iceland).
Since these locations are chosen in large part for their spectacular beauty, it’s perhaps not surprising that drone pilots around the world have sought out many of these same locations for aerial filming.
