Will Travelers Season 4 Happen?

There’s no doubt that fans are hungry for Travelers season 4 to be announced by Netflix. The opportunities presented by the possibility of a true reset, with the fabled director of the future creating a version 2.0 of the travelers program, are enticing to say the least. But the network has been silent about its intentions, and with no viewer numbers to analyze, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not we’ll get to see a new future unfold for Agent MacLaren and his team.

The lack of news is beginning to increase trepidation among the Travelers fanbase. Could the circumstances of MacLaren’s final journey to the past be an ending of sorts? While the open-ended reset could serve as a fairly impressive counclusion to the series, no one really wants the story to stop there. Even star and executive producer Eric McCormack is anxious to hear whether or not the series that he created with famed Stargate producer Brad Wright will get a season 4, as shown by the Tweet below.

Travelers has had a circuitous journey through its three seasons, starting as a production of the Canadian network Showcase, which originated such genre hits as Lost Girl and Continuum, the latter of which shared several of its cast members with Travelers. Netflix co-produced the show in its first two seasons and exclusively distributed it here in the United States and elsewhere, and it took Travelers over as its own property in season 3. The question of whether it was a successful acquisition financially for Netflix may be the deciding factor in whether or not Travelers season 4 will happen.

In the meantime, there’s plenty to speculate about in the season 3 ending, and that will keep fans occupied in the months to come, whether its simply a discussion during the hiatus before Travelers season 4 arrives or an extrapolation in the minds of fans that will inspire non-canonical fan fiction not yet written. If we hear about a cancellation or a renewal, you can bet we’ll let you know as soon as we are made aware.
