Is Black Mirror Season 5 Confirmed?

The world isn’t getting any less weird anytime soon.

So why wouldn’t there be a Black Mirror season 5 to capitalize on that techno-dystopian weirdness? Well, there very well may be. It’s just not official yet.

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker’s initial deal with Netflix was for two six-episode seasons. Those (plus a Christmas special) have come and gone and now all that’s left is to wait for another season order.

Early signs are looking good for Black Mirror Season 5. For starters, Netflix clearly has had a blast being the new official home of Black Mirror (the first two seasons aired on boring old television for British station Channel 4). The show’s social media accounts were seemingly omnipresent in the long lead up to season 4. The show is also at the height of its pop cultural powers and attention currently so it would be rather silly to stop now.

If that weren’t enough, Brooker seems eager or at least open to keep things going.

“There’ll be a discussion at the end (of season 4),” Brooker told Express. As long as there’s a dialogue between Brooker and Netflix about a season 5, it’s hard to imagine it not coming to pass.

We’ll be sure to update this post if we get official confirmation. For now, you can follow along with our Black Mirror season 4 coverage.
