Based on the novel, Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital, the series follows Dr. Max Goodwin on his journey to becoming the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States. Plagued by the hospital?s lack of care for patients and virtually non-existent concern with safety and proper treatment, Dr. Goodwin makes it his mission to restructure the bureaucracy to modify the facility on a moral level. With lurking opposition and a few that support the cause, Goodwin will stop at nothing to ensure that there is excellent care being provided to each and every patient at all times.
