Luke Cage Season 2 Soundtrack Lineup Revealed
Every season of Luke Cage needs some nice musical accompaniment for the chorus of skull-cracking, bone-crunching, and bullet-deflecting that Harlem’s favorite Power Man dishes out. Now Luke Cage Season 2 has its official soundtrack ready to go.
Netflix has released a list of artists who will be featured in the soundtrack for Luke Cage Season 2. They are:
– Rakim (who contributes an original song)
– KRS-One
– Ghostface Killah
– Faith Evans
– Jadakiss
– Stephen Marley
– Gary Clark Jr.
– Esperanza Spalding
– Christone “Kingfish” Ingram
– Joi
– DJ D-Nice
Per a Netflix release, several of the artists included in the soundtrack will perform live on the show and provide a diegetic score to Luke’s ass-kicking “inside Harlem’s hottest nightclub, and den of Mariah Dillard’s nefarious deals, Harlem’s Paradi.”
Luke Cage Season 1’s soundtrack was a big hit, featuring artists such as Method Man and Faith Evans and even getting a vinyl release. If Luke Cage gets enough seasons, it could one day collect the entire set of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Adrian Younge (Black Dynamite) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest are returning to score season two.
Luke Cage Season 2 picks up shortly after the events of The Defenders and will feature many consequences from that climactic team-up, with Luke having become a Harlem celebrity. Everyone’s favorite Defenders punching bag, Danny Rand, will appear alongside his buddy Luke Cage at some point in season two.
Luke Cage Season 2 debuts on Netflix on June 22.
