Travelers Season 3 Confirmed
Travelers season 3 will continue the mission to save the future as the series was officially renewed by Netflix, but interestingly not by Showcase, which originally produced the show in Canada. Lead actor and producer Eric McCormack made the announcement on Twitter on March 15, 2018, mentioning also that he’ll be directing the Travelers season 3 premiere. Here’s the message he sent to fans:
“Before I was Will Truman again, I was a Traveler. And I am so excited to be able to tell our fans, worldwide, that Brad Wright’s subtle and stunning sci-fi drama is back for a third season. I am so proud of this show, particularly that it’s all-Canadian. From our devoted Vancouver crew, to an uber-talented young cast who hail from Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Ontario, to my producing partners and our Toronto roots, Travelers is a series as Canadian in its creation, as it is global in scope. I am counting the days ‘til I return, not just as Special Agent Grant MacLaren, and as a producer, but as the director of the 3rd season premiere. Travelers will continue to be unwavering in its dedication to Canadian talent, and in its drive to be one of the strongest, most binged shows on Netflix.”
Executive producers Brad Wright and Carrie Mudd also spoke about the show’s departure from Showcase, saying, “We’d like to add our gratitude to our viewers in Canada on Showcase – as well as the Corus and Sky Vision teams – for two extraordinary seasons. We are excited to start shooting season 3 this March in Vancouver, and to continue the Travelers story for fans in Canada and around the world, only on Netflix.”
The ratings for Travelers were decent enough on Showcase, but on Netflix, they’re growing by the day. Not a week goes by that we don’t hear of someone new being sucked into a binge watch of the series and becoming an instant champion for its continuing success, and if you’re one of them (one of us, one of us, one of us) you’ll be absolutely delighted by the renewal announcement.

The Will of Will & Grace, Eric McCormack, will return to the role of Grant MacLaren for Travelers season 3, and we’re biting our fingernails waiting to see where things will go from that rather-too-cliffhanger-y season 2 finale. At least, we’re relieved to find out that we won’t be left hanging.
Travelers Season 3 Release Date
Production on the third season begins March 26, 2018, so we could realistically have Travelers season 3 back on Netflix by Christmas. Here’s a tweet from Leah Cairns, who plays Kat in the show, talking about the return to production.
