Lost in Space Soundtrack Gets Vinyl Treatment

Netflix’s Lost in Space revival has all the makings of a merchandising bonanza.

Following the lead of ill-fated 1998 film, everything onscreen for Lost in Space just looks really cool. Plus, we don’t know if you’ve heard it or not but the Robot is really sexy

Fittingly then, even the Lost in Space soundtrack is honor-bound to look as cool as possible. The Lost in Space soundtrack, composed by Christopher Lennertz previously launched digitally back in April. Now a physical vinyl copy will be finding its way to stores and online retailers. Naturally the vinyl, itself, is quite cool and in keeping with the show’s futuristic aesthetic.

Back when the soundtrack was released digitally, Lennertz pointed to “Will and the Robot” as his favorite track from the pilot, saying that it’s where “Will and the Robot not only meet, but form a true bond in the midst of a harrowing adventure. It was such a treat to write a long cue like the classic sci-fi that I grew up with, where an entire relationship shifts over the course of the piece and Will’s emotion soars on top of the action and danger underneath. I really put myself in the mind of my 12 year-old self and tried to write it from the point of view.”

Lost in Space Season 1 debuted on April 13 of this year. The Netflix show is a reimagining of the classic 1960s TV show of the same name and follows the Robinson family as they…well as they get lost in space. Along for the ride are lovable rogue Don West (a pilot in the original and a smuggler in the new show), the treacherous Dr. West (a real doctor in the original and a sort-of psychologist in the remake), and the beloved robot known only as “The Robot” (completely sexy in both versions).

Lost in Space Season 2 is confirmed but Netflix has yet to announce a release date. If you get sick of waiting, there’s always the Lost in Space graphic novel. Yeah, this show and merchandising do well together.
