Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and News
Sabrina the Teenage Witch is returning for all new haunts on Netflix! The streaming service has already made a straight-to-series order for the new Sabrina series, which based on the Archie Horror series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Billed as a spinoff to the CW hit Riverdale, Sabrina was originally in development at The CW. The series will move to Netflix with a commitment for 20 episodes over two seasons.
Riverdale reimagined Archie Comics in a pulpy, Twin Peaks meets Gossip Girl light. If Sabrina follows its source material, fans should expect something spooky and dark, a departure from the classic Sabrina The Teenage Witch TV series from the ‘90s.
The Netflix series will tell the story of Sabrina’s occult origins. The dark coming-of-age story deals with horror, the occult, and witchcraft, and sees Sabrina struggle to reconcile her dual nature of being half-witch and half-mortal while protecting her family and the world from the forces of evil.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the pilot script and Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti will be executive producing.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Cast
Kiernan Shipka, best known as Sally Draper on Mad Men and the seriously creepy high school freshman from The Blackcoat’s Daughter, has been cast as the Teenage Witch.
Jaz Sinclair (Easy) will join Shipka as Rosalind Walker, Sabrina’s best friend. She is the daughter of Greendale’s minister and is described as “brash, empowered, and outspoken.”
Joining them will be the brilliant Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) as Mary Wardell, a teacher at Baxter High, where Sabrina is a student. But the role is two-fold. When Ms. Wardell is possessed by demonic Madam Satan, she becomes a villain bent on destroying the Teenage Witch.
Lucy Davis, who played the charming Etta Candy in Wonder Woman, has been cast as Hilda Spellman. Lord of the Rings star Miranda Otto has been cast as Zelda Spellman. Hilda and Zelda are Sabrina’s two aunts.
Newcomer Chance Perdomo is set to to play Ambrose Spellman, Sabrina’s cousin from England who is put on house arrest by the Witches Council. He is described as Sabrina’s “partner in crime.”
Tati Gabrielle (The 100) plays Prudence, a student at the Academy of Unseen Arts and the de facto leader of a trio of witches known as the Weird Sisters. Beautiful and cunning, Prudence nurses a deep, personal, and possibly life-threatening grudge against Sabrina.
Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) has been cast as Harvey Kinkle, Sabrina’s love interest on the show. Harvey is “the prince charming of this dark fairy tale, Harvey is the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart.”
We also have our first look at Salem, Sabrina’s “lovable” feline familiar:
Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers) has been cast. Pinchot will be playing George Hawthorne, “Baxter High’s villainous, puritanical principal. He is a constant thorn in Sabrina’s side and is always trying to thwart her escapades.”

While we’ve been operating under the idea that Netflix’s Sabrina reboot TV series will carry the property’s classic comic billing, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, it appears that said title is now official. As you can see, this tweet from writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shows star Kiernan Shipka sitting in a director’s chair that clearly brandishes the now-official title for the world to witness.
