Netflix Godzilla Anime Release Date Revealed

Toho and Polygon Pictures’ anime collaboration on the king of the monsters, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters was a wild sci-fi take on the legend (my full review is here). The anime looks positively gorgeous, and it’s currently available on Netflix. It turns out that Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters was only the beginning, and it’s the kickoff of an entire Godzilla anime trilogy.

The next one is called Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle. Planet of the Monsters directors Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita are back for this one. It’s coming to Netflix on July 18.

But the really exciting news about the sequel is that it appears we’re going to meet Mechagodzilla! Check out the official synopsis:

“On Earth, Haruo and his companions make contact with the indigenous Houtua tribe. To defeat Godzilla, they set out for the old Mechagodzilla factory.”
