Drone Racing League Launches 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts
Gamers and drone racing fans around the planet are getting ready to fly pro.
The Drone Racing League (DRL), the global, professional drone racing circuit, opened registration today for the 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts, the world’s only player-to-pilot esports tournament.
FPV (First Person View) pilot hopefuls across the world can download the DRL Simulator, a true-to-life drone racing sim available on Steam, and enter DRL’s fourth annual online competition for a chance to fly in the 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship Season, the premier drone racing circuit watched by tens of millions of fans on NBC, Twitter and other sports networks internationally.
From February 18th – March 26th, Tryouts participants will race supercharged, 3D tracks in 12 qualifying tournaments to win weekly prizes, score a top spot on the leaderboard, and earn a coveted spot in the Finals. In the winner-take-all final race on April 2nd, the best 12 players will battle it out for a 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship Season contract.
Blending the digital with the real, the SIM Tryouts winner will go head-to-head against the most elite pilots on earth, flying custom-built DRL Racer4 drones at 90 MPH through complex courses in iconic venues around the world. Last year, thousands of players from 65 countries competed in the 2019 Tryouts, and Minnesota native, Christopher “Phluxy” Spangler, won a spot in the 2019 Season — making podium three times, and even winning a level at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
