Choctaw Nation Hosts 2nd Annual Emerging Aviation Technology Conference
DURANT, Okla. (March 11, 2019) –The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will host the 2nd Annual Emerging Aviation Technology Conference on April 18, 2019. The all-day conference will consist of keynote addresses by Dr. Jaiwon Shin, NASA Associate Administrator; Michael Kratsios, U.S. Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Assistant to the President at the White House Office of Science and Technology and Jay Merkle, Executive Director for FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Office. Attendees will learn about the future of aviation and the progress on the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program (UASIPP).

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP) is an initiative announced in October 2017 by President Trump, to begin safely testing and validating advanced operations for UAS (“drones”) in partnership with tribal, state and local governments in select jurisdictions. The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is one of 10 selectees announced from a competitive pool of more than 200 tribal, state and city governments.
Results from this Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) pilot program will be used to accelerate the safe integration of UAS into the national airspace and to realize the benefits of unmanned technology in our economy.
