Will There Be A Santa Clarita Diet Season 3?
Santa Clarita Diet Season 2 is now on Netflix. That means its time for the Internet’s favorite pastime: recklessly speculating if there will be a Santa Clarita Diet Season 3.
All signs point to the Drew Barrymore zombie comedy getting a third season. The response to season two has been generally favorable and Netflix does not get in the habit of canceling shows unless they are disastrously unpopular.
Plus there are plenty of loose-ends to take care of. In discussing the mythology of the show with Den of Geek, creator Victor Fresco may have let slip that he fully expects to get a third season.
“We do. We don’t in the sense of knowing where things are at in say, season five, but we know in season three where things are headed and what Mr. Ball Legs represents. We know that Paul, who Zachary Knighton plays, will be back and that he represents a threat to the Hammonds. It’s an interesting threat because he’s not a cop or a doctor, you know? When we break these stories we always have an idea of where it all goes, but it may not be a 100% certainty on it all. We’re talking about season three so we’re starting to nail that down.
The ball with legs originally started just as this cool idea and visual, but obviously much like the Hammonds we want to know what the fuck that thing is! So there’s fun to be had with not answering that outright, but still getting closer to new details.”
It tooks Netflix a little under two months after Santa Clarita Diet Season 1 to announce that there would be a season two, so we could be waiting for an official announcement until mid-May.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 Release Date
Netflix sure loves them some early release dates for Santa Clarita Diet. Season one debuted on February 3 of 2017. Season two followed suit by releasing in the first quarter of 2018 on March 23.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 could extend the trend of later start dates by arriving in April of 2019. Or Netflix could decide that February or March are perfect as is. Whatever the date, it will likely be determined by when Netflix orders a new season, which they have yet to do.
