Now that Stranger Things season 2 is finally here, it’s worth pointing out that Stranger Things Season 3 is already confirmed, and will probably run beyond that. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed that Netflix has already greenlit Stranger Things Season 3. They also revealed that there will likely be a fourth season that will probably be the show’s last.

“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” Ross told New York Magazine. “We just have to keep adjusting the story,” said Matt. “Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”

It’s true, after three straight years of monsters invading the town of Hawkins, Indiana, it might be time for the characters to pitch their tents elsewhere. “They’re going to have to get the fuck out of this town!” said Ross. “It’s ridiculous!”

Stranger Things Season 3 Latest News

Despite the earlier Stranger Things season 3 confirmation, the Duffer Brothers equivocated somewhat at the Vulture Festival in November 2017 according to Deadline, although not very convincingly. “We are [in] very early days on season 3, and we’re still figuring it out,” Ross began, then adding, “I probably wasn’t supposed to say that.”

Ross then reminded the crowd, “That’s not official! That wasn’t an official announcement. We’re just working on it, just for our own amusement, for fun!” Obviously, with as big a hit as Stranger Things has been for Netflix, an official announcement is all but guaranteed.

As for what Stranger Things season 3 might look like? At the Vulture Festival, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, shared, “I have I have my idea that we [do a] crossover with Hamilton.” With all the pop-culture references in Stranger Things, we wouldn’t put it past them.
