Anne with an E will be back for a Season 2! Netflix and CBC have renewed the gritty take on the beloved Lucy Maud Montgomery story for a second season.
Anne with an E Season 2 Release Date
Season 2 will start filming in the fall, with a vague release date of 2018. The second season will see an increased episode order, with 10 episodes up from eight.
Anne with an E Season 2 Cast
Amybeth McNulty will be back as Anne for Anne with an E Season 2. Also returning: Geraldine James (Marilla Cuthbert), R.H. Thomson (Matthew Cuthbert), Corrine Koslo (Rachel Lynde), Dalila Bela (Diana Barry), Aymeric Jett Montaz (Jerry Baynard), and Lucas Jade Zumann (Gilbert Blythe).
According to the official press release, Season 2 is “adding new characters and storylines and continuing to explore themes of identity, prejudice, feminism, bullying, gender parity and empowerment through the lens of its fierce, starry-eyed, irrepressible 14-year-old protagonist.”
Anne with an E Season 2 Writers Room
Season 2 will have an all-female writers room, led by returning showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett. Other episodes will be written by Jane Maggs (Bellevue), Sherold Edwards (Haven), Kathryn Borel (Rush), Amanda Fahey (Saving Hope), and Naledi Jackson (21 Thunder).
Walley-Beckett said of the upcoming season:
