Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later Trailer Arrives
Netflix is sending us back to camp… again. That’s right, we’re getting even more Wet Hot American Summer in August.
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later is Netflix’s second original series based on the 2001 cult film set at Camp Firewood. The 8-episode sequel series arrives not long after Netflix facilitated a most unlikely, 14-years-in-the-making, reunion of its sprawling cast – some of whom went on to become A-listers – with the 2015 prequel series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.
Indeed, as the Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later trailer proves, things will be a little closer to reality this time around, but, in true Wet Hot form, still a bit of a stretch.

As expected, the Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later trailer is a magnificently manic montage of bacchanalian bounty. The zany gang from Camp Firewood have changed a lot in the decade since their monumental summer in 1981. Now, it’s 1991, a year that’s firmly within a transformative decade, though, in many ways, was still working out the aesthetic and pop culture kinks left over from the 1980s. In a notable, albeit conventional development, our former (faux) teens are now (faux) young adults and, upon stepping back onto camp grounds, it’s clear that the current crop of young campers are here to show the ”old” folks what’s what.
The trailer gives us the amount of outlandish events and insane exposition that we have come to expect, with the fates of some of our campers ranging from Elizabeth Banks’s Lindsay becoming the ebullient host of a talk show called “Puff Stuff,” Paul Rudd’s Andy clinging to his rebellious youth by rocking long hair and a leather jacket affixed with misanthropic messages, Christopher Meloni’s Gene becoming a trailer park-dweller who meets the daughter of Molly Shannon’s Gail, who conspicuously carries Gene’s personality and fashion choices, Amy Poehler’s Susie decked out in a getup that Molly Ringwald would wear in a John Hughes movie, to Ken Marino’s Victor, who becomes a male stripper.
The premise for the sequel series is a play on a gag that’s tagged on to the end of the 1981-set original film, which imagines the campers reunited on the grounds 10 years later in August 1991. In fact, the trailer similarly utilizes the soundtrack song of Jefferson Starship’s 1979 hit “Jane,” which plays during the sequence in question.

As if that wasn’t enough, they managed to corral some prominent new faces to franchise, which includes:
Skyler Gisondo, Samm Levine, Mark Feuerstein, Marlo Thomas, Joey Bragg, Jai Courtney, Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano and Adam Scott.
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later Crew
Director David Wain and Showalter, the franchise creators, will write the eight new episodes with Wain behind the camera.
